Secret Superstar strikes a chord unlike any other movie!

Let’s Talk Movie!

Secret Superstar solely relies on its content and charm to leave a lasting impression. Adding to the entire experience are the actors, who embrace their roles with utmost sincerity. There is no needless noise – just genuinely rendered emotions conflated with the dare to dream syndrome. So whether it is the wife that falters (Meher Vij), the husband that hinders (Raj Arjun), or the delightful daughter that ponders (Zaira Wasim) – they are all terrific. Even the protagonists’ steady school friend (Tirth Sharma) and tiny tot brother (Kabir Sajid) are a joy to watch.

The beautiful opening scene, depicted by a train cutting through the good ‘ol days and a hopeful young face gazing into the unknown – stages a journey about to ensue. The story starts and stays with the fifteen-year-old aspiring singer Insiya, played by the wondrous Zaira Wasim.

Naysayers’ concerns that the film could struggle at the box office because Aamir Khan has taken second billing are widely misguided. Remember Taare Zameen Par. We all know how great that turned out. Similarly, Khan’s marvelous extended cameo in Secret Superstar enhances the film enormously – Yes, he is that good with emulating the caricature character that has stepped straight out of a Bollywood book.

But make no mistake, Secret Superstar is upheld by the mother-daughter relationship resonated by two supremely talented actors, Zaira Wasim and Meher Vij. Debutant director Advait Chandan lends a simple yet eloquently told story – predictable at times – but one that is bound to connect with many hearts. As the film draws to a close, it shines a beam of hope for families in distress.

And with the strum of Wasim’s guitar, Secret Superstar strikes a chord unlike any other movie this year!
