Slated to release on Diwali day, Secret Superstar has earmarked its precedence at the movies. Seldom does a movie release on Diwali day itself – it is a relatively risky move. But the ‘perfectionist’ team seems to be backing the move all the way. Being dubbed as the biggest movie of the year, Secret Superstar has superseded all expectations. If analysts are to be believed and if all goes according to plan, the film could cash in big time on the Diwali weekend.
With about 11,000 theatres on hand, it is expected to earn Rs 4 crore on the opening day itself. If word-of-mouth appreciation spreads, the collection is likely to rise by 50-60% on the next day. These are fantastic numbers for a small-budget content-driven film as this. Keep in mind it is going up against an already established Golmaal franchise.
Secret Superstar will heavily rely on its content to make a bump at the box office. Naysayers’ concerns that Aamir Khan has settled for a supporting role in the film doesn’t seem to pose a threat at the box office. As expected, Zaira’s performance is said to be heartfelt and standout through the film. The same holds true for her onscreen mother played by Meher Vij. Adding to the soulful story is Amit Trivedi’s magnificent music.
Trade analysts are already raving about film, as are the critics. The response in the film fraternity has been overwhelming. Even the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seems mighty pleased with the film. Directed by Aamir Khan’s former manager Advait Chandan, Secret Superstar is poised for super success.
